Transition to School

At Epping ELC, we will always talk about starting school in a positive manner, that will reinforce a healthy attitude toward transition.

School readiness begins from the moment a child enters an early learning environment. Children are constantly learning, exploring, and absorbing new knowledge every day.

Our program provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning and skill development. We support each child to grow at their own pace, creating opportunities that nurture their individual strengths and interests while building confidence and independence.

Open communication with families is central to our approach. By working in partnership, we create meaningful connections between home and the learning environment, supporting consistency and the best outcomes for every child.

Our high-quality School Readiness program is aimed at the individual child and their stage of development. We recognise that every child is unique. Thoughtfully individualised to meet each child’s needs, ensuring they feel supported, valued, and capable of success, the program will be introduced by an Educator to all children who will be attending school the following year. Simple readers on most common used words will be introduced to the children approximately 6 months prior to starting school.

Our tailored program builds foundational literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills through interactive and engaging activities. The main focus is on developing social, emotional, cognitive, and physical abilities in a fun, supportive environment. This helps children build the skills, confidence, and independence they need to transition smoothly from preschool to kindergarten. We believe that children progress consistently at their own pace. We also integrate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), creative arts, and nature-based learning, helping children grow into curious, confident problem-solvers.

These skills are all aimed at developing your child as a healthy individual and providing them with a sense of worth so that they can continue to be a confident learner with an important place in our society- being, belonging and becoming.
